Sendfax is a standalone backend program for sending fax files. The mgetty program (a getty replacement for handling logins over a serial line) plus sendfax will allow you to send faxes through a Class 2 modem. If you'd like to send faxes over a Class 2 modem, you'll need to install the mgetty-sendfax and the mgetty packages.
Viewfax displays the fax files received using mgetty in an X11 window. Viewfax is capable of zooming in and out on the displayed fax.
The mgetty-voice package contains the vgetty system, which enables mgetty and your modem to support voice capabilities. In simple terms, vgetty lets your modem act as an answering machine. How well the system will work depends upon your modem, which may or may not be able to handle this kind of implementation. Install mgetty-voice along with mgetty if you'd like to try having your modem act as an answering machine.
Mhash is a free library which provides a uniform interface to a large number of hash algorithms. These algorithms can be used to compute checksums, message digests, and other signatures. The HMAC support implements the basics for message authentication, following RFC 2104. In the later versions some key generation algorithms, which use hash algorithms, have been added. Currently, the library supports the algorithms: ADLER32, GOST, HAVAL256, HAVAL224, HAVAL192, HAVAL160, HAVAL128, MD5, MD4, MD2, RIPEMD128/160/256/320, TIGER, TIGER160, TIGER128, SHA1/224/256/384/512, Whirlpool, SNEFRU128/256, CRC32B and CRC32 checksums.
A Virtual Tape & Library system. This package is composed of a KMP (mhvtl), which is also a psuedo HBA.
This is the kernel module package for the mhvtl Virtual Tape & Library package. This works in conjunction with the user-land commands and libraries to enable tape emulation. The vtl module is a stripped-down derivative of the scsi_debug kernel module, plus a character device "back end" to pass the SCSI commands through to user-space daemons.
