Stateful programmatic web browsing, after Andy Lester's Perl module WWW::Mechanize. The library is layered: mechanize.Browser (stateful web browser), mechanize.UserAgent (configurable URL opener), plus urllib2 handlers. Features include: ftp:, http: and file: URL schemes, browser history, high-level hyperlink and HTML form support, HTTP cookies, HTTP-EQUIV and Refresh, Referer [sic] header, robots.txt, redirections, proxies, and Basic and Digest HTTP authentication. mechanize's response objects are (lazily-) .seek()able and still work after .close(). Much of the code originally derived from Perl code by Gisle Aas (libwww-perl), Johnny Lee (MSIE Cookie support) and last but not least Andy Lester (WWW::Mechanize). urllib2 was written by Jeremy Hylton.

nose extends the test loading and running features of unit test, making it easier to write, find and run tests. By default, nose will run tests in files or directories under the current working directory whose names include "test" or "Test" at a word boundary (like "test_this" or "functional_test" or "TestClass" but not "libtest"). Test output is similar to that of unit test, but also includes captured stdout output from failing tests, for easy print-style debugging. These features, and many more, are customizable through the use of plugins. Plugins included with nose provide support for doctest, code coverage and profiling, flexible attribute-based test selection, output capture and more.

Oauth2 was originally forked from Leah Culver and Andy Smith's oauth.py code. Some of the tests come from a fork by Vic Fryzel, while a revamped Request class and more tests were merged in from Mark Paschal's fork. A number of notable differences exist between this code and its forefathers: - 100% unit test coverage. - The DataStore object has been completely ripped out. While creating unit tests for the library I found several substantial bugs with the implementation and confirmed with Andy Smith that it was never fully baked. - Classes are no longer prefixed with OAuth. - The Request class now extends from dict. - The library is likely no longer compatible with Python 2.3. - The Client class works and extends from httplib2. It's a thin wrapper that handles automatically signing any normal HTTP request you might wish to make.
