The gd graphics library allows your code to quickly draw images complete with lines, arcs, text, multiple colors, cut and paste from other images, and flood fills, and to write out the result as a PNG or JPEG file. This is particularly useful in Web applications, where PNG and JPEG are two of the formats accepted for inline images by most browsers. Note that gd is not a paint program.
The gd-progs package includes utility programs supplied with gd, a graphics library for creating PNG and JPEG images.
This package contains the GDAL file format library.
'gdb' package is only a stub to install gcc-gdb-plugin for 'compile' commands. See package 'gdb-headless'.
GDB, the GNU debugger, allows you to debug programs written in C, C++, Java, and other languages, by executing them in a controlled fashion and printing their data.
Gdbm is a GNU database indexing library, including routines which use extensible hashing. Gdbm works in a similar way to standard UNIX dbm routines. Gdbm is useful for developers who write C applications and need access to a simple and efficient database or who are building C applications which will use such a database. If you're a C developer and your programs need access to simple database routines, you should install gdbm. You'll also need to install gdbm-devel.

Grassroots DiCoM (GDCM) is a C++ library for DICOM medical files. It supports ACR-NEMA version 1 and 2 (huffman compression is not supported), RAW, JPEG, JPEG 2000, JPEG-LS, RLE and deflated transfer syntax. It comes with a super fast scanner implementation to quickly scan hundreds of DICOM files. It supports SCU network operations (C-ECHO, C-FIND, C-STORE, C-MOVE). PS 3.3 & 3.6 are distributed as XML files. It also provides PS 3.15 certificates and password based mechanism to anonymize and de-identify DICOM datasets.
An fdisk-like partitioning tool for GPT disks. GPT fdisk features a command-line interface, fairly direct manipulation of partition table structures, recovery tools to help you deal with corrupt partition tables, and the ability to convert MBR disks to GPT format.
gdk-pixbuf is an image loading library that can be extended by loadable modules for new image formats. It is used by toolkits such as GTK+ or clutter.
